D-Mannose Plus is a valuable aid in preventing and counteracting urinary tract infections (UTIs) such as cystitis because it encompasses two major anti-adhesion agents, D-mannose and Cranberry, combined with VItamine C.

D-Mannose is a simple sugar that interferes with the adhesion of E. coli fimbriate type bacteria , competitively inhibiting their rooting to uroepithelial cells; this molecule binds to the bacteria, displacing them from their binding sites by carrying them into the urinary stream where they are subsequently destroyed by physiological defense mechanisms.

The mechanism of action of D-mannose combines with the action of cranberry proanthocyanides (PACs), which, on the other hand, block the adhesion of E. coli P-fimbriates by binding to galactoside residues on the surface of uroepithelial cells.

A positive aspect of this product is the high dosage of D-mannose (2500 mg); this choice stems from scientific evidence that points out that this sugar acts with a dose-dependent mechanism, and therefore the amount contributed is such that it ensures effective and prompt action.
