It is considered the "ginseng" of Ayurvedic medicine, the traditional medicine of India. Withania Somnifera is regarded for its adaptogenic properties, a term used to describe herbs that improve physical energy and athletic ability, increase immunity to colds and infections, and enhance sexual capacity and fertility. It is used primarily to tone the immune system and as an effective stress reliever, but also for its calming, antibacterial, astringent and diuretic properties.
