Melatonin is the hormone involved in the regulation of circadian and ultracircadian rhythms, such as those that regulate seasonal responses to changes in daily light duration (photoperiodic responses). The melatonin in Melatonin complex acts in synergy with other herbal components such as Valerian, helping to reduce the time it takes to fall asleep and improving the quality of sleep in the early hours of rest; the melatonin-valerian association also helps in the treatment of jet-lag, because it rebalances the sleep-wake cycle when the many hours of time difference create discomfort in travelers. The beneficial effect is achieved by taking it just before bedtime.
