Maca Extra 30 capsules is a supplement containing powdered Andean maca combined with the corresponding dry extract titrated to 0.5 percent beta-ecdysone.
Maca root is made up of carbohydrates (59 percent), protein (10.2 percent), fiber (8.5 percent) and lipids (2.2 percent); it also contains a large amount of essential amino acids, iron, calcium, iodine, alkaloids, beta-ecdysone, magnesium, p-methoxybenzyl, isothiocyanate, phosphorus, saponin, stigmasterol, sitosterol, tannin, zinc, vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin B12, vitamin C and Vitamin E. For about 500 years, the Maca tuber has been used in Peruvian medicine for its stimulating effects on energy, libido and fertility; in fact, one of the main characteristics of this root is its ability to stimulate sexuality. It contains fatty acids (maene and macamide), sterols, and aromatic isothiocyanates, which represent the compounds that are biologically active as aphrodisiacs; some research has actually confirmed its sexually stimulating action and an improvement in erections in cases of dysfunction. Due to its high steroid content, maca also has effects on increasing muscle mass, boosting performance and endurance in athletes; it also has excellent properties as an adaptogen and is often used in "chronic fatigue syndrome" characterized by fatigue, exhaustion and lack of stimulation because it is effective in improving physical vitality and "boosting" the immune system.
